Rose Ireland is an emerging playwright who has been writing since 7th grade. She writes in the genres primarily of creative-non fiction and playwriting. She is also writing a children’s chapter book about bullying, friendship and resiliency. Driven to write about outsiders, displacement, banishment, the lives of women, daughters, and mothers, and the minefield called family. As well as the quest for a transcendent God. Able to create dialogue gleaned from decades riding public transportation. Deeply influened by British Kitchen Sink/ Neo-Realist dramas of the 1960s. Tennessee Williams and Marina Carr among others. Studied with writers Jonis Agee, Susan Welch, and Taiyon J. Coleman at St. Catherine University and poets John Engmann, Michael Dennis Browne and workshops with Galway Kinnell at The University of Minnesota, Also studied with Patricia Hampl. Studied Screen Writing and Film at Film in the Cities. Acting, Physical Comedy and Playwriting at The Guthrie Theater- Minneapolis, Creative Non-Fiction and Writing Process at The Loft in Minneapolis. Workshops and classes from The Playwright’s Center. She lives in St. Paul MN with her husband and two cats and has a BA in Language, Literature and Creative Writing from St. Catherine University.
