Polak, Brian James

Brian James Polak was raised in New Hampshire and resides in Minneapolis. His plays include WELCOME TO KEENE, NH, THE PATIENT (Jean Kennedy Smith Award), LAST TO DIE FOR A LOST CAUSE (John Cauble Award), HERE RESTS THE HEART (Alcove Commission from Lucile Lortel), THIS IS THE SUBTEXT (Son of Semele Commission), THE MEETING (Hollywood Fringe, NYC Fringe, Space Pirates Theatre Collective world premiere Spring 2027), THE CALL LIST (Third Avenue Playworks world premiere September 2026), THE GRAVEDIGGERS UNION (Theatre B world premiere February 2027),and many others. Brian is the producer and host of American Theatre magazine’s “The Subtext,” a podcast by/for/about playwrights and playwriting. He received his MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of Southern California, School of Dramatic Arts.
